About the Group

Saffron Walden Opportunity Playgroup is a registered charity and run by committee.

Our Mission:

to welcome and support all families with special needs children 0-5 years. To offer respite,  friendly and stimulating sessions  and for parents to meet other parents in a supportive environment.

The sessions are planned and supervised by the play leader, who is a qualified teacher with special needs experience and supported by experienced volunteers to give the children one-to-one care. Promoting the welfare of children is paramount.

Each child is allocated a dedicated volunteer helper who is CRB checked.

We are affiliated with the Pre-school Learning Alliance  and were awarded their Good Practice Certificate which shows a commitment to excellence.

Fundraising:

SWOP was formed in 1987  and does not receive any statutory funding and therefore relies totally on grants and donations. At the end of last year we re-applied to Children in Need for a further grant for three years and were thrilled and relieved to have it accepted. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Children in Need for all their support.

Donations are always welcome. We are delighted to report that we currently are well resourced but the costs of hall hire, playleader salary, providing refreshments and other week-by-week running expenses are continuous.

Cheffins of Saffron Walden kindly donated funding to enable us to set up this website!
